There has been a great deal of debate about what to call Lycaon pictus. There are almost as many names as there are individual animals left on our planet.
PWF Trustee, Nick Dyer, has just published a blog on Africa Geographic, comprehensively outlining this debate. He explains the history of Lycaon’s many names, and explores the pros and cons of each.
The blog was selected as Africa Geographic’s Editor’s Choice and is beautifully illustrated by Nick’s photos. It also includes What’s In a Name, by wildlife artist Lin Barrie, a stunning sketch created for Painted Wolves: A Wild Dog’s Life.
Don’t forget the book is still available for purchase! All profits go to the Painted Wolf Foundation
