The mission of the Zambian Carnivore Programme (ZCP) is to conserve large carnivores and ecosystems through Conservation Science, Action and Local Leadership.
ZCP works in all the country’s major large carnivore populations in close collaboration with the Zambian Department of National Parks and Wildlife and an array of partners. They employ a three-pronged approach, namely:
- Conservation Science– identifying and evaluating limiting factors and threats to the persistence of species and ecosystems
- Conservation Action– addressing immediate threats as identified by research
- Conservation Empowerment– ensuring sustainability through Zambian leadership.
