The mission of the Zambian Carnivore Programme (ZCP) is to conserve large carnivores and ecosystems.
ZCP works in all the country’s major large carnivore populations in close collaboration with the Zambian Department of National Parks and Wildlife and uses a three pronged approach, namely:
- Conservation Science aimed at identifying and evaluating limiting factors and threats to the persistence of species and ecosystems
- Conservation Action aimed at addressing immediate threats as identified by research
- Conservation Capacity aimed at ensuring the sustainability of approaches 1 and 2 by implementing training, employment and educational opportunities for aspiring Zambian conservationists from the secondary school level up through international graduate programs.
