The mission of the Niassa Carnivore Project (NCP) is to conserve lions and other large carnivores in the vast Niassa National Reserve in Mozambique.
The NCP has three long-term goals:
- Monitor trends in carnivore populations and threats;
- Reduce threats to carnivores; and
- Build alternative livelihoods, and conduct outreach and education to local communities.
The project works in collaboration with the communities who live inside Niassa Reserve, the Mozambican Government and the Niassa National Reserve management authority.
