Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
A pause for thought…
At the end of such a tumultuous year we want to wish you and your loved ones a joyous and safe holiday season!
Us humans, as a species, have experienced an onslaught that has proven to be beyond our control. Perhaps, in some quiet moment over the holidays, as our species reflects back on this torrid year, the thought may arise that our wildlife has been experiencing a similar violent assault which has lasted for over a century. But for those creatures who share our damaged environment, it is mankind that must appear as a deadly virus.
Then maybe, just maybe, this thought may enlighten many more to the realisation that so much needs to be done to save our precious and endangered wildlife and spur them to support the valuable conservation initiatives that work tirelessly on the frontline of this brave and critical battle.
In the meantime, to those of you who already get this, we would like to thank you for being Part of the Pack and for all your continuing support and commitment to the beleaguered painted wolf.
As a thank you, we attach 12 images of this wonderful creature taken by our chairman Nicholas Dyer as a small Christmas present from us which you can use as a background to those endless Zoom meetings – a separate one for each month of 2021 perhaps.
Each appeared in the book Painted Wolves: A Wild Dog’s Life which he wrote with Trustee Peter Blinston. We include not only pictures of this wonderful creature, but also pictures that reflect some of the work that Peter’s organisation is doing in the field.
Next year will see an important evolution for the Painted Wolf Foundation, when we will launch an initiative to help secure the future of the painted wolf, having spent our lockdown consulting with all the dedicated organisations that are working valiantly to save them in the field.
We will update you on this in the early months of 2021, but in the meantime, Merry Christmas and let’s hope for a much happier New Year for us all and of course, the wonderful painted wolf.
