BBC’s Kingdom to air in America

BBC’s landmark natural history series, Kingdom, premieres in the US and Canada this Saturday 24th January and it’s absolutely worth a watch. See details below.

Important to us is that it was filmed in Nsefu in South Luangwa and drew on the expertise of our partners, the Zambian Carnivore Programme (ZCP).

It is also where we are establishing our Painted Wolf Leadership Centre, where emerging conservationists can work up close with the species and learn how to better conserve them.

Carrying a strong conservation message, the film series helps build awareness of the painted wolf and its plight.

Hopefully it will inspire more people like our own Trustee, Wendy Furness, who ran on an incredible 1,000 consecutive days to raise money for PWF.  Learn more about her incredible feat below! I am very proud of her fantastic achievement.

With best wishes

BBC’s Kingdom

In the heart of Zambia, leopards, hyenas, wild dogs and lions compete to claim a home, in a paradise known as Nsefu. A story of power and survival filmed across 5 years in a single spectacular location, where the fates of 4 rival families are inextricably linked.

As the dramatic rise of wild dog queen Storm sends ripples of chaos through the Kingdom, the jostle for dominance between Rita’s lion pride and Tenta’s hyena clan contrasts with their gentleness as mothers; while solitary leopard Olimba attempts to bring up her cubs in the midst of the turmoil.

Who can rule this precious Kingdom?

Painted Wolves: A Wild Dog’s Life

By Nicholas Dyer and Peter Blinston

In celebration of the airing of Kingdom, we are releasing the last remaining copies of Peter and Nick’s incredible book.

Many have described it as the most remarkable book ever produced on the lives of the painted wolves and what can be done to save them.

1,000 Days of Running for Painted Wolves

We’re incredibly proud of our Trustee Wendy Furness, who reached an amazing 1,000-day consecutive running streak on New Year’s Day, raising over £4,000 for the Painted Wolf Foundation.

Wendy is passionate about painted wolves and joined our Board to help save them. She brings us a wealth of talent and experience as a vet, entrepreneur and inspirational advocate for the painted wolves.

Wendy braved freezing temperatures in Finland, the rainforests of Sumatra and continued her feat while on safari in Zambia (despite the presence of lion, elephant and buffalo). Read more about Wendy’s 1,000 days.
